PATRIOTISM
FISHER HOUSE
At the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas, there are three Fisher House homes. Fisher Houses provide comfort homes where military & veterans families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital.
Along with other Houston Chapters, we decorate the Fisher Houses for Christmas to give our Veterans and their families a little “home away from home” feeling during the holidays. Our Chapter needlepointed patriotic Christmas ornaments for a new tree at Fisher House.
VETERANS
The Chapter provides needed clothing items for the Annual Operation Stand Down benefitting homeless Veterans as well as the Annual Baby Shower for Veteran Mothers-To-Be. We are honored to provide financial support to various facilities in the state dedicated to Veterans coping with PTSD.
SUPPORTING ACTIVE SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN
Chapter members embrace our active military by supporting Project Patriot both at the National level and through contact with Chapter members' families in the service. This year we provided treats for men and women deployed on the USS Ronald Reagan.
ROTC MEDALS
The Chapter awards ROTC Medals for several Houston-area High Schools. It is our privilege to recognize and honor these outstanding high school students who will soon be serving our nation in active military service.
